Hurricane Mary Sweeps the Grammy Nominations


Its still award season and the 49th Annual Grammy Award nominatins were today announced.After scooping most of the Billboard Awards a few short days ago, Mary J. Blige and her album 'The Breakthrough'lead the moninations with total of 8 nominations.Mary was nominated for album of the year, record of the year for Be Without You and song of the year for the same track.

Others nominated include will.i.am who recieved five nominations including Producer of the Year, while Beyonce, Gnarls Barkley, T.I. and Justin Timberlake each scored four nominations. Chris Brown is also nominated in the Best New Artist category.

Mary who earned five of her eight nominations in the R&B category competes for the Best R&B Vocal Performance trophy with "Be Without You" against Mariah Carey ("Don't Forget About Us"), Beyonce ("Ring The Alarm"), India.Arie ("I Am Not My Hair") and Natalie Cole ("Day Dreaming").

The Breakthrough is nominated for Best R&B Album of the Year with Jamie Foxx's Unpredictable. Both Blige and Foxx are nominated in the Best Duo or Group category.

Best Rap Album nominations include Lupe Fiasco (Food & Liquor), Ludacris (Release Therapy), Pharrell (In My Mind), The Roots (Game Theory) and T.I. (King).

Missy Elliot ("We Run This") is nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance,with Busta Rhymes ("Touch It"), Mos Def ("Undeniable"), Lupe Fiasco ("Kick, Push") and T.I. ("What You Know").

In the R&B Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Akon featuring Eminem ("Smack That")scored, Beyonce featuring Jay-Z ("Deja Vu"), Eminem featuring Nate Dogg ("Shake That"), Jamie Foxx featuring Ludacris ("Unpredictable") and Justin Timberlake featuring T.I. ("My Love")

British singer Corrine Bailey Rae recieved three nods.

The 49th annual Grammy awards will be handed out on Feb. 11 in Los Angeles.Go Mary!
